Why is the Laser Focus Lens always easy to burn when laser cutting?

Laser Focus Lens is a very important precision component in the optical path system of the laser cutting machine, and its cleanliness has a great influence on the processing performance and quality of the laser cutting machine. The protective lens of the laser cutting machine belongs to the consumable wearing parts, generally need to be replaced in time.

The main reasons why Laser Focus Lens tend to burn during laser cutting include the following:

1、Lens contamination:

During the cutting process, slag and soot easily adhere to Laser Focus Lens. These impurities absorb laser energy and form localized hot spots, thus accelerating lens burns.

2、Poor beam quality:

Unstable laser beam quality and uneven pattern will make the energy concentrated in certain areas, resulting in localized overheating on the surface of the lens, thus damaging the lens.

3、nsufficient cooling:

During laser cutting, Laser Focus Lens are exposed to high temperatures, if the cooling system is insufficient, the temperature of the lenses will continue to rise, resulting in the accumulation of heat, making the lenses burned.

4、Optical path deviation:

If the optical path is not correctly aligned, the laser beam will form an eccentric or skewed irradiation on the lens, and the local energy is too high resulting in burns.

5、Lens quality problem:

If the protective lens material has poor heat resistance or the surface coating is of poor quality, it is difficult to resist the energy of high-power laser, and the lens is more likely to be burned.

Preventive measures

  • Regular cleaning and replacement of lenses: Avoid thermal damage caused by surface contamination.
  • Check optical path alignment: Ensure that the center of the laser beam is accurately aligned to avoid localized hot spots.
  • Optimize the cooling system: Keep the lens at a low temperature during the cutting process.
  • Choose high-quality lenses: Select lenses that are resistant to high temperatures and laser burns.
